Paul A. Snell

Paul A. Snell, 81, of Rossville, died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Milner Community Health Care Center in Rossville.

Born June 8, 1928, in Forest, he was the son of Raymond and Ruby Rayme Snell. His first marriage was on Feb. 29, 1952, to Genevieve Butler, who preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1983. His second marriage was on Dec. 29, 1984, to Josephine Bolinger, who preceded him death on Nov. 21, 2009.

Mr. Snell was a life resident of the Rossville area.

He farmed west of Rossville for most of his life. He worked at Eli Lilly in Lafayette for 28 years, Fairfield Manufacturing in Lafayette for three years, Dr. Pepper Bottling for three years, and managed the Flora Trailer Park for three years.

Mr. Snell was a member of the Lower Deer Creek Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon.

He was a life member of the American Legion and V.F.W., both in Attica.

Mr. Snell was a United States Navy veteran. He served during World War II and the Korean Conflict from November 1946 until November 1952.

Surviving are a daughter, Diana Irmeger (husband: Ron) of Rossville; three stepchildren, Marilyn Dunk of Rossville, Connie Sue Platt (husband: Larry) of Streater, Ill., and Jerry Butler (wife: Deb) of Rossville; a sister, Lea May Parker (husband: Ed) of Attica; 10 grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two grandchildren; a brother, Russell; a sister, Ruthann Perry; and a stepson in-law, Bob Dunk.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville. Services will be there at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Guy Studebaker and Opal Reiff officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Rossville Cemetery.
