Delphi receives $48,600 planning grant
The City of Delphi has been awarded a $48,600 planning grant for a fire station renovation planning project. The federal dollars are from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) administers the grants.
“These planning studies are often the first step for communities that want to pursue new economic development opportunities,” Lt. Governor Becky Skillman said. “These studies are costly for rural communities, but the state will continue to support communities that have a vision for improving the quality of life for Hoosiers.”
Delphi will use the grant funding to evaluate existing city hall building conditions, including roofing, masonry and windows. The project will develop an expansion plan for the Delphi Tri-Township Fire Territory to construct larger bay areas for equipment and expand staff training areas with consideration for the historic integrity of the building.
The CDBG grant program has proven to be an effective tool for community-based planning and research initiatives. For information about the grant program, visit www.in.gov/ocra.
