W e s t Lafayette resident Thomas B. Speaker has released his newest novel, “The Battle of Waikiki.”
Speaker, a graduate of West Lafayette High School and Purdue University has been a secondary teacher, counselor, guidance director, and basketball coach in Indiana for over 21 years. He also served two years of active duty in the Army in Hawaii.
In his newest novel, Speaker takes readers through the sometimes excruciating, always hilarious ways an 18- year-old, sheltered, and somewhat spoiled boy almost single-handedly brings the U.S. Army to its knees, waving the white flag of surrender.
Speaker reveals what happens when Mike turns to God and realizes that with God, nothing is impossible as he stumbles through the necessities of the army and lives the adventures, sports, history, young love, and beauty of our fiftieth state.
