Ardith Best

Ardith Arnold Best, 92, formerly of Los Angeles, Calif., died at 2:05 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at Wesley Manor in Frankfort. She had been a resident there since 2000.

Born Aug. 10, 1917, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Edward W. and Leah C. Wise Arnold. Her marriage was on Feb. 21, 1962, in Los Angeles, to Newton Harrison Best, who preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2001.

Mrs. Best was a graduate of Logansport High School and Moody Bible Institute as well as Azusa Pacifica College in Los Angeles.

She was a retired teacher for the Los Angeles school district and past director of the Pioneer Girls Camp in Denver, Colo.

Mrs. Best enjoyed leading many adults and children in bible study classes and especially liked leading children to the Lord.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Louise Lange of San Bernardino, Calif.; two nephews, Ed Arnold (wife: Debbie) of LaPorte and Ken Arnold (wife: Susan) of Gurnee, Ill.; and eight nieces, Joyce Brubaker (husband: Joe) of Kokomo, Beverly Leiner of Palm Harbor, Fla., Marcia Bogan (husband: Greg) of Carmel, Linda Berry (husband: Tom) of Woodstock, Ga., Becky Shimel (husband: Larry), Betty Wampler (husband: Steve), Barbara Matthew (husband: John) and Beverly Astel (husband: John), all of California.

Preceding her in death were a brother, Clifford Arnold and a sister, Ione Meek.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi. Burial will follow at Wise Cemetery near Camden.

Memorials may be made to Wesley Manor in Frankfort.
