Extension Homemakers offer educational programs

Comet staff report

Carroll County Extension Homemakers invite the public to join them March 4 at the 4-H Community Building in Flora for one or all three of the programs planned for the day. They are:

“Lifetime Relationships - Adult Children and Aging Parents” will be at 10 a.m. Growing older differs for each individual and family.

Troubled relationships may remain troubled and strong ones may be challenged. Role descriptions change over time and this session will explore conversations between generations that are important for all ages with ideas on how to make them more meaningful.

“Easy and Tasty Ways to Add Fiber to Your Diet” will be at 7 p.m. Learn how to add whole grains and fiber to a diet by improving the Grain Group selections. This program will also provide up-to-date information on sugar substitutions, flax seed and how to use them in recipes replacing sugar and oil. Recipes modified to include whole grains and sugar substitutions will be available.

“Home Environments Accessible to all Ages, Sizes and Abilities” will be at 7 p.m. This program will teach individuals how to make the home environment more usable throughout the different stages of life such as loss of vision, becoming wheelchair bound or severely limited in flexibility while keeping the aesthetic value in mind.
