Vera M. Cain

Vera M. Cain, 97, of Delphi, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

Born Aug. 9, 1912, in Kankakee, Ill., she was the daughter of Frank and Martha Grulrich Seedorf. Her marriage was on Dec. 12, 1931, in South Bend, to Clarence A. Cain, who preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1959.

Mrs. Cain attended Battle Ground schools.

She was employed at the former Hyman Grocery in Delphi and retired from Peters Revington Manufacturing in 1977 after 14 years of service.

Mrs. Cain was a former member of the Jefferson Township Extension Homemakers Club and the Yeomen United Methodist Church. She later attended the Delphi United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Cain enjoyed doing needlework, growing and tending flowers, and doing yard work. She also enjoyed cooking for her family gatherings.

Surviving are a son, Roger D. Cain (wife: Norma) of Lafayette; two daughters, Kay Henry of Delphi and Delores Wilson (husband: Charles) of Lafayette; a sister, Dorothy Duffy of Otterbein; two brothers, Frank Seedorf Jr. of Lawrence and Vernon Seedorf of Ocala, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Marlene S. Cain; two brothers; a sister; and a son-in-law, Mel Henry.

Services were held Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi. Pastor Nord Zootman officiated. Burial followed at the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg.

Memorials may be made to St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen in Lafayette.
