William D. “Bill” Smart, 90, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Versailles, Ky., died Feb. 14, 2010, after a short illness.

Born Sept. 26, 1919, in Bourbon County, Ky., he was the son of William and Anna Elizabeth Shankland Smart. He married Dottie Butts on July 19, 1943, in Versailles, and she preceded him in death in 2000.

He was a retired educator.

Mr. Smart was a member of the Versailles First Christian Church.

Among the survivors are three daughters, including Barbara Slade (husband: Woody) of Flora.

Services and burial will be Friday in Versailles.
