Carroll 7th girls off to fast start

The 7th grade Lady Cougars started their season Jan. 18 with an 18-4 win over Caston. Five players contributed to Carroll’s balanced scoring.

Two nights later they defeated Western twice. In the first game Bayleigh Filbrun and Courtney Atkisson both scored in double figures to lead the Cougars to a 34-13 victory. The Lady Cougars won the second game 32-8 behind Cassidy Carman’s 18 points.

On Jan. 26 they continued their winning ways with a 20-11 win over North White. Carly Kingery led the way with 10 points.

The Lady Cougars moved to 5 wins and 0 losses with a 42- 10 victory over Frontier last Thursday. They had a balanced scoring attack with eight girls contributing.

In all five games the girls have shown great defensive effort, only allowing an average of 8 points per game, said coach Tom Hedde.

Delphi wrestlers place in folkstyle open

Three Delphi wrestlers competed in the Normonco Folkstyle Open on Sunday in Crawfordsville.

Fifth grader Dylan Hart and 2nd grader Brooks Sailors both placed 2nd. Hart wrestled in the Novice 100-lb. weight class and Sailors wrestled in the Bantam 65-lb. weight class. 4th grader Tyron Watson placed 4th in the Novice 65-lb. weight class.

Coaches are Clay Hart and Casey Watson.
