For the third consecutive year, Carroll and Delphi will square off in the girls’ basketball Sectional.

The IHSAA draw for the 35th annual State Tournament was held Monday night at Conseco Fieldhouse, and it was announced that the county rivals will square off in the early game Friday night, Feb. 12, in the Class 2A Sectional at Fountain Central.

The two-time defending Sectional champions have eliminated the Oracles in Sectional play each of the past two seasons and won this year’s regular season matchup 42-24 played on Nov. 25 in Delphi.

The Cougars have a fivegame winning streak over the Oracles, dating to Delphi’s last win over Carroll on Nov. 22, 2006, at home by a score 34-25.

Seeger and Clinton Central will open Sectional 37 play on Feb. 9, with the winner facing Fountain Central, which drew the bye, in the second game on Friday night.

The Sectional championship game featuring the semi-final winners will be Feb. 13.
