Martha L. Stingley
Martha L. Davis Stingley, 69, of Delphi, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She had been there since becoming ill Wednesday evening.
Born Nov. 2, 1940, in Clinton County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Ross Davis. Her marriage was on Oct. 26, 1957, in Mulberry, to James T. Stingley, who preceded her in death Oct. 21, 2005.
Mrs. Stingley attended Mulberry High School and received her GED at a later date.
She worked as a QMA for 10 years at Wesley Manor in Frankfort. She was also a homemaker.
Mrs. Stingley was a member of the St Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi and a member of the altar and rosary society of the church.
She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed oil base painting and word search puzzles.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy M. Stingley of Delphi and Sondra Thoune (husband: James) of Monticello; two sons, Tim Stingley (wife: Renee) of Burnettsville and Brice D. Stingley of Frankfort; a sister, Loretta Lightfoot of Fernandina, Fla.; a brother, Ross Davis (wife: Nancy) of Gravois Mills, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were five brothers and two sisters.
Mass was held Tuesday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. Father Peter Vanderkolk officiated. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
Memorials may be made to St Joseph Catholic Church.
Arrangements were handled by Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi.
