Leona Gibson

Leona Gibson, 82, of Flora, passed away at 9:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at the Mulberry Health & Retirement Community.

She was born April 1, 1927, in Haleyville, Ala., to Jesper Levi and Loey Smelly Harris. She attended school in Haleyville. On Aug. 27, 1957, she married Marvin Gibson in Mississippi. He survives in Flora.

Mrs. Gibson had been employed at Peters-Revington in Delphi before becoming a caregiver.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Jimmy Owsley of Russiaville, Ala., and Marion Gibson of Flora; daughters, Auzlane Barnes and Wanda Trueblood, both of Logansport, and Marna Wyant of Lafayette; a brother, Jerry Harris, and two sisters, Lola Salter and Freda Brimer, all of Haleyville, Ala.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Reinke Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Pastor Tim Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.
