Freda “Pauline” Landis, 91, died at 12:52 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Eden Hills Nursing Facility in New Braunfels, Texas.

Born April 8, 1918, in Cutler, she was one of ten children born to the late Charles and Sarah “Sally” Ruffner. She was a 1936 graduate of Flora High School. On Sept. 19, 1936, she married Herman “Skeeter” Landis, who preceded her in death June 14, 1974.

Mrs. Landis worked in and around Flora for V.D. Rider and Capehart.

In 1956 she and her husband moved to California where they lived and worked for many years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.

Mrs. Landis enjoyed her children, grandchildren and her cats.

Surviving are a son, Charles Landis (wife: Donita) and a daughter, Sue Karger (husband: Ken), both of New Braunfels, Texas; five grandchildren, Kevin Landis (wife: Cynthia) of Leona Valley, Calif., Judith Gonzalez (husband: Angel) and Robyn Swen, both of Bakersfield, Calif., Brian Priest and Mark Priest, both of New Braunfels; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were five brothers and four sisters.

Services will be held Saturday at Reinke Funeral Home, Flora. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.
