Foster parent training offered

The Indiana Department of Child Services is offering a 20- hour pre-service training course for prospective foster parents. The course will help prepare foster, adoptive and kinship parents for their caregiving experience.

Anyone interested must be 21 years old. Single parents are also eligible to apply. A criminal history and child protective services background check are required during the training.

Training schedule and sites for the first quarter are:

Jan. 10, 24, and 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Kokomo Main Branch Library, 220 N. Union St. in Kokomo;

Jan. 10, 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tippecanoe County Department of Child Services, 250 Main St., Suite 301 in Lafayette;

Feb. 14, 21 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, 259 E. Walnut St. in Frankfort;

March 7, 14 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Branch Library, 1755 E. Center Dr. in Kokomo;

March 14, 21 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to be determined in Monticello and

April 11, 18 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the first Baptist Church, 520 W. Mill St. in Lafayette.

Children are not permitted to attend the classes and no child care will be provided.
