Donations help make season brighter
Honon Hall in Delphi was all a-buzz recently with shoppers at the Christmas Toy Store,
sponsored by the Delphi United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Living
Faith Church of Brethren, St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and St. Joseph Catholic
Church. This year, 500 children will have a merrier Christmas because of the generous
donations from the community. Mary McDonald, a member of Living Faith Church of
the Brethren, has been in charge of the event for the past seven years. She begins planning
right away for the next toy store. Names of families are submitted to committee members
and a letter is sent out which is then presented to shop at the toy store. Local merchants,
individuals and school children donate items for children ages newborn to 18. This year
most of the bicycles were purchased by the Delphi chapter of MADD. Comet photo
