Food Pantries are beneficiaries of generosity from luminary display
The Annual Stoney Creek Subdivision Christmas Luminary display was held Dec. 12 in Monticello with recordbreaking results. The efforts of those who participated were supported by an outstanding turnout and with open hearts.
During the three-hour event, over 1,100 pounds of non-perishable food items were collected, along with $2,156.72 in monetary contributions.
Members of the Luminary Committee delivered onehalf of the food and money Dec. 14 to Bob Arney at the Carroll County Food Pantry and the other half to Don Ross at the White County Food Pantry.
The Stoney Creek Home Owners Association began sponsoring the annual luminary event in 2001 and started collecting freewill donations for the White and Carroll County Food Pantries in 2002. The tradition has continued to grow.
The support of the community has allowed the association to deliver over four tons of food and more than $8,000 to the food pantries in the last eight years.
