Oracles win Super Dual; 4 wrestlers go undefeated

The Delphi wrestling team won a super dual last weekend at Logansport.

The Oracles had a rematch with their opponent from the Team Regional last year. The Oracles outscored Peru 43- 30. In round two the Delphi grapplers wrestled Hoosier Conference foe, Benton Central, winning 53-21. Culver Academies were a victim again of the Oracles, losing 50-20. In the final round the Delphi squad edged an improved Logansport team 42- 32. Delphi’s record is now 12-3 on the season.

Going undefeated, 4-0, for the day were: 119 Austin Jones, 135/140 Nathan Mc- Tigue, 152 Tanner Lynde, and 189 Braden Atwood.

Lynde, in round one, beat Sparks of Peru who was ranked third in the state at 145. Atwood, who has pinned all of his opponents this year, tied the Delphi career wins record held by 2008 graduate Donovan Alderman. Atwood’s career record as of Saturday was 150 wins to 12 losses.

Winning three matches on Saturday were: 103 Adam Marvel, 160 Dayton Rummell, 171 Brandon Delaney, and 215 Roy Anderson. Two match winners were: 125 Blake Price and 130/135 Cody Alderman. Winning one match for the Oracles were: 112 Chris Brown, 130/135 Kaleb Salyer, 145 Spencer Conner, and 285 Ken Myers.

The day before the Delphi team snuck past an improved Frankfort squad, 45-36. Winning for the Oracles were Atwood, Anderson, Jones, Price, Alderman, Nathan Mc- Tigue, Lynde, and Delaney. Atwood, Lynde, and Mc- Tigue remain undefeated for the season. The Oracles are now 8-3 in dual meets.

The Oracles will be in action tomorrow at West Lafayette and Saturday at the Twin Lakes Invitational.
