The tree decorated by Justice Law Offices is the People’s Choice winner in the Delphi Chamber’s “Festival of Trees.” Lighted and decorated in patriotic colors, the tree’s theme is “The U.S. & Indiana Constitutions.” The Festival of Trees continues through Christmas in the courthouse rotunda.
Larry Welborn, conservationist for the Natural Resource Conservation Service District of the United States Department of Agriculture will retire after over 30 years serving the citizens of Carroll County. Welborn’s last official day will be Dec. 31.
First graders at Carroll Elementary School are concentrating this year on the life skill of caring. Students are forgoing their annual Christmas gift exchange and instead have collected gifts for the Ronald Mc- Donald House in Indianapolis.

Residents of Camden are extremely proud this year of their Christmas decorations in the business area. A tall, lighted tree in front of the town office is the centerpiece. It took a lot of work from a lot of people to “get the job” done. It’s the first time the town has had any major project for Christmas in a long, long time.
Three-year-old Harmony Tracy designated her mother, Susan, to be her Flora Lions Club “Shopping Spree” representative at Stephan’s IGA in Flora Saturday morning. Harmony’s ticket was purchased by her grandmother. This year’s total was $598.97. The Lions use the money made from the promotion to carry on Philanthropic projects.
50 YEARS AGO
An early Thursday morning fire that completely destroyed the production plant of the Peters-Revington Furniture factory in Delphi was discovered by Claude Young, of Flora, while on a routine check. The fire of undetermined origin which developed in the boiler room over an air compressor at the rear of the building spread toward the front. Tom Peters and George Revington owners of the factory which was started by Mr. Peters in 1946, immediately began making arrangements to be back in production in 30 to 45 days.
The Camden sophomore class received their sweaters Monday, from the Sportsman Inc. in Lafayette. The sweaters, beige with dark brown accessories, were happily accepted by the anxious sophomores.
75 YEARS AGO
The two evening trains on the Monon route will stop at Monticello and Delphi each night up to and including Monday evening, Dec. 24, according to announcement received here. The trains as usual will stop in Monticello on Christmas, but not at Delphi.

The picture so heartily endorsed is “Bright Eyes”, Fox Film’s newest and best vehicle for the amazing talents of Shirley Temple, child star extraordinary.
Donald Litwiler formerly of this place appears on a radio program each Friday afternoon at 1:15 p.m. over station W.B.A.A. at Purdue, West Lafayette. Mr. Litwiler and Frank Hurley appear together and are known as Don and Frankie both play and sing Hawaiian music.
100 YEARS AGO
Jesse Shafer, a Carrollton farmer, brought to the Miller & Walker elevator Wednesday, one of the largest loads of corn ever brought to Flora, with one team of horses. The load weighed 9,790 pounds gross, 5,710 pounds net, which was over 84 bushels of corn. This load was drawn by a team weighing 2,200 pounds. Jesse says they can pull a larger load than any team their size in Carroll county.
