Ralph E. Saubert
Ralph E. Saubert, 96, Colburn, died Dec. 4, 2009, at Mulberry Health & Retirement Center.
Born May 23, 1913, in Lafayette, he was the son of William Henry and Emma M. Cohee Saubert. His marriage was in 1961 in Delphi, to Wahneta May Younker Pattengale, who survives.
A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army and was at Normandy on D-Day.
Mr. Saubert worked at the former Dave’s IGA in Delphi for several years before retiring in 2005.
Also surviving are six sons, Edward Saubert (wife: Faye) of Buffalo, William J. “Bill” Saubert (wife: Kim) of Lafayette, Michael Pattengale (wife: Brenda) of Attica, Gary “Pete” Pattengale (wife: Pam) of Battle Ground, John Pattengale (wife: Brenda) of New Richmond, and Marty Pattengale (wife: Linda) of Logansport; eight daughters, Betty Harbolt (husband: Allen), Alberta Dawson (husband: Paul) and Lana Mabbitt, all of Lafayette, Patty Wortman of Boswell, Carolyn Oliver (husband: Bob) of Idaville, Jane Davis Harbolt (husband: Dennis) of Colburn, Cassie Schley (husband: Ed “Butch”) of Delphi and Karen Johnson of Bedford; a brother, Prince Saubert (wife: Lee) of Anderson; a sister, Sophia Smith of Montmorenci; 52 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.
Services and burial were held Tuesday in Lafayette.
