MSgt. Miller retires

MSgt. Joseph Miller, Jr., right, is honored at his retirement. MSgt. Joseph Miller, Jr., right, is honored at his retirement. MSgt. Joseph A. Miller, Jr., retired from the United States Air Force on Nov. 6 after 26 years of service.

A 1983 graduate of Delphi Community High School, he is the son of Thomas and Pamela Ryves of Delphi and Joseph A. Miller of Colburn. Miller entered the military on March 9, 1983, as an 11C-Indirect Fire Infantry Specialist with the Indiana Army National Guard. He transitioned to the Air Force on Aug. 25, 1985.

His first duty station after completing Personnel Specialist Technical School was Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska, where he worked in the Consolidated Base Personnel Office (CBPO). In 1996 he was reassigned to Falcon Air Force Base in Colorado where he served as NCOIC, Outbound Assignments. In April 1998 he was assigned to Taegu Air Base in Korea where he served for one year. He did a tour of duty during Desert Storm and spent six months in Iraq.

Miller earned an Associate’s degree in human resource management and personnel administration through the Community College of the Air Force in September 2000.

He has been married to his wife, Jill, for 21 years. They have two daughters, Nicole, 20, and Catherine, 13.

The family makes their home in Texas.
