Jargstorf and Burge power Oracles
      The Lady Oracles won a pair of games over the weekend to run their record to 3 wins and 1 loss for the young season, defeating North White 56-45 and Clinton Prairie 40-29. Earlier in the week they won at home, 48- 40, over Seeger.

Bender named Wendy’s High School Heisman state finalist
      Kris Bender, a senior at Delphi Community High School, was recently selected as one of 10 male finalists from across the state in competition for this year’s Wendy’s High School Heisman.

Carroll girls split meets
      The Carroll girls swim team opened its season against Northwestern, losing to the Tigers 115.5-69.5. They bounced back Monday night, defeating Attica 123-39. Against Northwestern, Carroll was led by seniors Olivia Wenisch, Hannah Brewster and Emily Fritz. They were on the first place 200-free and 400-free relay teams. Wenisch also won first place in the 50-free event.

Atwood to continue his wrestling career at Purdue
     Oracle senior wrestler Braden Atwood signed a letter of intent to continue his wrestling career at Purdue University last Wednesday. He is the son of Michael and Lynn Atwood. Atwood is a member of Boiler Elite, a club for area wrestlers that is run by two All-Americans, Chris Fleeger and Ben Wissel both assistant coaches for the Boilermakers.

Oracles start wrestling season at Super Duals
      The Delphi wrestling team kicked off the 2010 season at the Chesterton Super Duals. The Oracles did something that they have never done in the past. they out wrestled the host school, Chesterton, to a 42-39 win. The match turned costly though because the Delphi team lost Cody Alderman for the rest of the day due to a few stitches.

      Cougar for the Month at Carroll Elementary is Megan Coomler who teaches kindergarten. She was nominated by Payton Forrest who wrote, “She is nice and sweet but most of all she is a terrific teacher. She is excellent at math, science, and drawing. Mrs. Coomler is the best!”
