Circa 1942 Circa 1942 Ruth M. Collett Cottrell, 89, of Delphi, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at her daughter’s

home. She had been in ill health the past year.

Born March 26, 1920, in Cliffton, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Matilda Laurent Collett. Her marriage was on March 23, 1976, in Danville, Ill., to Walter E. Cottrell, who preceded her death on July 27, 2009.

Mrs. Cottrell attended school in Cliffton, Ill.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband in their demolition business.

She attended the Bringhurst United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women’s group of the church.

She enjoyed crafts, crocheting and raising houseplants.

Surviving are three daughters, Joy Gibson (husband: Rob), with whom she made her home in Delphi, Linda Cooper (husband: Rob) of Newborn, Ga., and Patricia Simmons (husband; Sam) of Jasper; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Beverly and a sister.

Services were held Friday at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi. Pastor Brent Oliver officiated. Burial followed at Zion Citizens Cemetery near Bringhurst.
