John E. Koekenberg
John E. Koekenberg, 63, of Biloxi, Miss., died une xpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the University of Southern Alabama Medical Center in Mobile.
Born May 27, 1946, in Monon, he was the son of the late Frederick and Shirley Boothby Koekenberg. He was a 1965 graduate of North White High School. His marriage was in the spring of 1971 in Monon to Edith E. Coble, who preceded him in death Nov. 4, 1979.
Mr. Koekenberg was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Thailand, working in munitions and loading planes with bombs. He retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service with the rank of Master Sergeant.
He worked in video and photography making training videos for new service personnel.
He enjoyed NASCAR auto racing.
Surviving are three sons, Keith Koekenberg (wife: Karen) of Fort Riley, Kan. and twins, Alex and Benjamin Koekenberg of Eaton, Ga.; two sisters, Mary Walters of Monticello and Nancy Ramey of Bowling Green, Ky.; a brother, Fred Koekenberg of Delphi; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today, Wednesday, at 11:30 a.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockfield. Military rites will be by the Delphi and Camden American Legion and Delphi VFW. The Rev. Ed Selvidge will officiate.
Arrangements are being handled by Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi.
