Keeping children safe is Carroll program topic
On Monday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. Carroll Consolidated School Corporation will be hosting Sgt. Terry Hall for a presentation on “Body Safety” in the high school auditorium.
The presentation will address all forms of child abuse and will discuss dangers of the misuse of technology (inappropriate texting and pictures on cell phones, facebook, etc.) He will educate adults on the indicators of child molestation and will dispel the myths related to child molesting.
This program is open to the public. Free childcare will be provided for school-aged children by volunteer high school students. The presentation is intended for adults.
The following day Sgt. Hall will teach Carroll students grades, K-12, how to keep themselves safe.
In the last ten years, Hall’s passion and dedication for protecting children has led to his training of over 10,000 prosecutors, judges, and law enforcement officers at the local, state, and federal levels, in regard to children’s issues. He also has been involved with training for universities, law enforcement academies, national judicial conferences, department in-service training, and recently was requested to instruct the Department of Human Services employees.
As of January 2007, he has talked to over 600,000 people, including children and adults, while conducting a program he developed called Body Safety. The program is not designed to instill fear, but to educate and empower children to have control of their bodies.
“We are very fortunate to have Sgt. Hall coming to our community,” said Amy Hickson, Carroll Elementary guidance counselor. “He truly is THE expert in his field, and I have personally attended his training session. He also comes highly recommended from schools all over the state. This information is of great value to all parents and professionals working with children.”
