Carroll County is not an island
Six Carroll County community members were trained along with representatives from 13 other communities for
more than a year to “think like a region” and enhance economic development options. The initiative was developed
by the Indiana University Kokomo Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) and used
federal funding for the project. Class members celebrated their “graduation” Friday with a ceremony, meal and group
photo. “It’s important to be involved regionally,” Delphi City Police Chief Justin Darling said after the ceremony.
“Carroll County is not an island.” County representatives included Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Executive
Director Sana Booker, economic development director Daryl Smith, EDC/chamber executive assistant Julia Leahy, Delphi
Preservation Society member Anita Werling, Eric Flora of Brenneco Fire Protection, and Darling. Comet photo
