County’s new Disaster Action Team
      The Tippecanoe County Chapter of the American Red Cross now has a Disaster Action Team [DAT] in Carroll County. DAT members are volunteers who respond to emergency situations to provide financial assistance to those affected and rehabilitation services to emergency workers.

      Carroll County Extension Educator Joanne Lytton was presented with the Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding service and dedication to the 4-H Youth Development Profession by the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents.

     It’s the day before Thanksgiving. The turkey is resting quietly in the fridge. The stuffing is ready to be assembled. Various casseroles await a trip to the oven. INDOT launches statewide traveler web site
      The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces a dramatic expansion of its free Traffic- Wise traveler information service to include updated reports for all State Roads, U.S. Highways and Interstates around the state. Motorists now have a new tool to plan their travels by visiting TrafficWise.IN.gov or dialing 800-261-ROAD (7623).

      Tracy Yeakley Gaylor, Kokomo, formerly of Flora, suffered a stroke on Oct. 24. She was transferred last week from St. Vincent Hospital to the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana, both in Indianapolis. Cards may be sent to her at 4141 Shore Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46254.

      A living nativity will be held at the Baptist Church on Dec. 12. Hanging of the Greens will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church. Dedication and open house for the newly redecorated Sunday School rooms of the Baptist Church will be Sunday following morning worship.

ISP issues October activity report
      Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post has released statistics for October. Troopers issued 1,714 traffic citations and wrote 1,614 traffic warnings. Troopers also arrested 28 drunk drivers, made 126 criminal arrests and issued 85 truck citations (over 10,000 pounds gross weight).

      Delphi The library will close Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. with regular hours resuming Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. Story Time will be Dec. 3 featuring stories, plays, games and songs about feathered and furry friends who “migrate and hibernate.” Baby Lapsit will begin at 9:30, Toddler Story Time at 10 and Preschool at 11:30 a.m.

      Understanding the need for single mothers to be able to purchase good used clothes, furniture and housewares at bargain prices led Dede Bushong to open a store in Delphi which caters to them. “I was a single mom for several years,” Bushong said. “I know what it’s like to have to look for good prices to be able to provide for the kids.”
