Visit Museum of Art Delphi Public Library’s Art Detectives traveled to the Indianapolis Museum of Art on Saturday. The trip was the culminating event of the six-week “After School @ the Library” program for children in grades 2 through 5 which met 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Mondays at the library. The Art Detectives program utilized the Picturing America prints of famous American art received through a grant from the We the People National Endowment for the Humanities. During the program the students studied the art using Visual Thinking Strategies, a way of observing art with students to understand better the artist’s work and what the artist was trying to communicate with their art. At the Indianapolis Museum of Art the students participated in two docent-led tours to further their learning experience. Art Detectives attending were (l-r): Abigail Walker, Aden Sinks, Blake Sinks, Jordan Ladd, Ashly Bentley, Madison Embry, Kerigan Toole, Katlyn Green, Emily Durbin and Rachel Durbin. They were accompanied by parents and library staff who provided transportation to the IMA. Photo provided

It’s never been easier to manage your library account online. Start by accessing your account through the library’s website, www.flora.lib.in.us. From the main page click on “catalog.” On the catalog page you can sign into your account using your library issued card account number and a password. If you don’t have a password you will need to come into the library so one can be given to you.
Once you’re signed in you can see everything you have checked out and when the materials are due. Just click on the “fines” tab to see any fines you have accrued. Do you want email notifications letting you know your library materials are due? Simply go to the “my personal details” tab, and enter your email address. Then go to the “messaging” tab and check what notifications you would like to receive by email.
Patrons have many options to manage their own accounts online including changing the password, renewing materials, and even making their own reading lists from the library’s holdings. The staff is also available in the library to help you set up your online account.
The theme for the next storytime is “Thanksgiving.” Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and for eating! The original Thanksgiving story will also be shared at storytime, which is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
Call the library’s Dial-a- Story, 967-3814, to hear “The Caterpillar’s Surprise.” Friday the story changes to a favorite holiday tale, “Old Man Rabbit’s Thanksgiving Dinner.”
