Marlin L. Welk
Marlin LeRoy Welk, 92, of Rossville, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Milner Community Healthcare in Rossville.
Born July 11, 1917, in Minot, N.D., he was the son of Mervin D. and Ethel Moore Welk. He attended Pyrmont School. His marriage was on Dec. 23, 1939, in Carroll County, to Edna C. Cottrell, who preceded him in death Aug. 27, 2007.
Mr. Welk worked with his father for many years as a carpenter. From 1964 to 1982 he was employed as a custodian and in maintenance at Mulberry High School. He also farmed for 26 years.
Mr. Welk was a member of the Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Jane Welk Renicker (husband: R.J.) of Rossville; a son, Eugene E. Welk (wife: Judy) of Delphi; two brothers, Floyd E. Welk (wife: Edith) and Galen Welk (wife: Donnabell), both of Rossville; a sister, Nellie Kessler of Rossville; a sisterin law, Mary Ellen Welk of Delphi; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and four step greatgreat grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Charles “Bill” Welk, and a brother-in-law, Marion.
Services were held Saturday at the Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church with home brethren officiating. Burial followed at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville.
