Meetings
Jodie Guise, Woody Slade, and Mary Jo Redmon were recently inducted as members of the Flora Lions Club.
A new slate of officers and directors were also inducted, including Tom Kressley as president.
At the Nov. 3 meeting, Shaun Rose, Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School athletic director, addressed club members on the successes of Carroll’s various sports programs. He spoke on the development of a “sportsmanship creed” for Carroll’s athletes and parents to follow and uphold. He also reported on upgrades to the school’s concessions and the refinishing of the high school basketball court.
The club reviewed the results of the Oct. 29 annual Halloween party for the community, as well as plans to participate in the upcoming Flora Christmas Parade. Plans are also being finalized for the annual Pete Award Banquet that will be held on Dec. 1.
The next scheduled dinnermeeting will be held at the First Christian Church at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17. All members are encouraged to attend as the Lions District Governor is expected to attend and address the club.
Bridge-A-Rama
Proceeds from Bridge-ARama support Trip Kappa scholarships.
Top three highest scores for October were Jane Smith and Donnabell Sieber with 4,050 points; Ed Gruber and Jack Cross with 3,940 points and Ginny Emerson and Pat Myers with 3,740 points.
High scores in each group for the month of October were Smith and Mary Kelly; Leanne Aldrich and Partner; Sharon Quinn and Betty Jean Sprague; Smith and Sieber; Rita Wingard and Sieber; Emerson and Myers; Clatia Whiteman and Helen Schilling; Wingard and Sieber and Robert Crume and Jack Cohee.
