80th birthday

Walter Downham will celebrate his 80th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The event, hosted by his children, will be held at the Elks Club, 1100 North 3rd St., Logansport.

Mr. Downham operated the family farm in Washington Township, Carroll County, until his retirement.

He was born in Logansport on Nov. 2, 1929, the son of Earl and Lillie Thomas Downham. He attended Logansport High School for one year and graduated from Deer Creek High School.

He enjoys being a Ham Radio operator and going to auctions. He is a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Deer Creek. A U.S. Air Force, he is also a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Downham has three children, a daughter Lisa M. Downham of Logansport and sons Michael L. Downham (wife: Lisa) of Logansport and Steven E Downham (wife: Amy) of Chicago, Ill.; two grandsons and a stepgrandson.

In May 1952 at Faith Lutheran Church, he married Merita Mace. She died in January 2001. He married LouAnn Starkey in October 2004 at Faith Lutheran Church. They reside at 5919 W. CR 325 N., Logansport, IN 46947.
