Comet staff report

“Portal to the Heavens” by Rena Brouwer “Portal to the Heavens” by Rena Brouwer “Nature Awakens Creativity,” a multi-sensory presentation of music, art, and poetry, will be presented Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Indianapolis Art Center’s Frank M. Basile Auditorium.

The Central Indiana Land Trust will host the event as part of the Spirit & Place Festival, which takes place annually in Indianapolis.

Music by the Indianapolis Women’s Chorus and its improv musicians will be intertwined with a slideshow of artwork inspired by the Land Trust nature preserves. Work by local artist Rena Brouwer will be included in the presentation.

Over the summer, dozens of artists, including Brouwer, visited the nature preserves and created artwork from nature’s inspiration. These works of art are on display at the Indianapolis Art Center’s Ruth Lilly Library now through Nov. 23 and will be the inspiration for the music on Nov. 10.

Also at the event, poets will read their writings, and several of the artists will participate in a Question & Answer session. The performance will be followed by a dessert reception and a chance to browse the exhibit.

The Indianapolis Art Center is located at 820 E. 67th Street. The event is free, open to all ages, and no pre-registration is needed. For more information, please visit http://www.spiritandplace. org/Festival.aspx?access= MoreDetails&EventSche duleID=101#web.
