Hoosiers invited to send holiday wishes to Indiana’s troops
State Senators Brandt Hershman (R-Wheatfield) and Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) are encouraging area residents to join Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman’s holiday season mail campaign for troops called “Hoosier Cheer for Our Heroes.”
“This holiday season when you make your card list, please remember Indiana servicemen and women who will be spending the holidays away from their homes, families and friends,” Hershman said.
Skillman’s office is collecting cards and will send them to Indiana troops around the world. Those who want to participate should send cards and letters (but no money or gifts) to Skillman’s Statehouse office by Nov. 18 to the following address: Office of the Lieutenant Governor, Statehouse, 200 West Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204-2797.
Skillman’s office received about 20,000 cards for troops last year and officials hope to top that this year.
“During this season of giving, it’s important for us express our appreciation to those who are putting action behind our hopes for ‘peace on earth,’” Alting said. “I am thankful for our troops and hope many residents will take the time to participate in the lieutenant governor’s thoughtful program.”
Sen. Hershman represents Senate District 7, which includes Carroll, Clinton, Howard, Jasper, Tippecanoe and White counties.
Sen. Alting represents Senate District 22, which includes a portion of Tippecanoe County.
