Photo provided Winners of Burlington’s annual Halloween costume contest were chosen at the Community Harvest Party held Saturday night and sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.

The best overall costume belonged to “Trick-or-Treat Barbie, Adysan Herron.

Overall winners included: Prettiest - Mailee Pearl Sewell as Mary Poppins; Most Original - Maria Bell as a ‘50s high school teen; and Scariest - Malachi Sewell as Frankenstein.

Tots up to kindergarten: Prettiest - Mailee Pearl Sewell; Most Original - Maria Bell; and Scariest - Kabrienne Lindsay, Little Gremlin.

Delphi Halloween festivities Nearly 500 children and adults attended festivities at Canal Park on Halloween night. Delphi United Methodist Church had a Fall Carnival with games, food, and candy, Delphi Chamber of Commerce hosted a Pumpkin Patch with prizes, and the Canal Association sponsored a hayride. 2nd thru 4th grade: Prettiest – Adysan Herron; Most Original – Keegan Retzlaff; and Scariest – Malachi Sewell.

5th thru 6th grade: Prettiest – Hannah Morgan, Sharpei from High School Musical; Most Original – Matt Brafford, Zorro; and Scariest – Jarred Goltz, hunter.

Teens and adults: Most Original – Nikki Retzlaff.

Winners received two gold dollars from Kiwanis Club, a coupon for ice cream from Burlington Scoop, and a $5 coupon from Burlington Community Library to spend at Books-a-Million.

All 42 participants received a gold dollar and sack of candy from Kiwanis Club.

Judges were Jeanette Crum, Lee Ann Tate, and Rosetta Mann.

Kiwanis Club served free hot dogs, chili, soft drinks, cider and coffee until gone.
