Starbuck wins age group at Chicago Urbanathlon
Wabash College sophomore and Logansport native Sam Starbuck recently finished the Men’s Health Urbanathlon in Chicago first in his age group of 18 and 19 year olds.
Of the more than 5,000 competitors, Starbuck finished in 92 minutes for a placing of 282nd overall.
The Urbanathlon is a rigorous race and obstacle course that incorporates challenging urban obstacles at downtown Chicago landmarks like Navy Pier, Shedd Aquarium, and Soldier Field.
The course is 12 miles with obstacles located approximately every three miles.
Some of the obstacles were a one-mile stair climb, stutterstepping through tires, 12 monkey bars, and hurdling over two parked taxi cars.
The event raises money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation and is used to help pay for prosthetics for athletes who have lost limbs due to paralysis.
Starbuck is an infielder for the Little Giants baseball team. He also serves as president of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
His dad Ron Starbuck and grandparents Marion and Patricia Starbuck reside in Rockfield.
