Carroll soccer honors players
Michael Myers and Hunter Upton
Carroll Varsity Soccer Team’s awards banquet was held last week with the MVP, Cougar Award, Most Improved and All-Conference winners being named.
The Cougars finished the year 5-11-1, but had a good year overall winning the Hoosier Heartland Conference for the second year in a row and playing well against two undefeated teams near the end of the season.
The Cougars will graduate three players from this year’s squad of 20, but have a lot to look forward to with a young team.
The MVP and Cougar Award went to Michael Myer, who led the Cougars with 12 goals and 9 assists. Most Improved was first year player, senior Hunter Upton.
The Cougars had four players make 1st Team All-Conference: Myer, Jarvis Simmons, Tim Ruby and Jeremy Hayes. Two Cougars received Honorable Mention: Dan Budreau and Stephen Murphy.
Myer was also selected 1st Team All District and will represent Carroll in a Showcase weekend Nov. 21 and 22. He is the first Carroll player ever selected for first team and is one of only two small school players selected. Myer was also named ISCA All-Academic for the second year in a row.
