Victor L. Brown
Victor Leo Brown, 79, of Rossville, died at 9:42 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
Born May 12, 1930, in Loogootee, Martin County, he was the son of Ernest F. and Maudie E. Hunt Brown. His marriage was on May 12, 1957, to Mary I. McDonald, who survives.
Mr. Brown graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, in 1955, and from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science, Indianapolis, in 1956.
He gave the Rossville Volunteer Ambulance Service its first ambulance.
Mr. Brown was the owner, operator and funeral director of Brown Funeral Home in Rossville from 1958 to 1987. He purchased the funeral home in Mulberry in the 1980s.
He was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church, Rossville Masonic Lodge, Helen Bonebrake Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star.
Mr. Brown was one of the original members to start Milner Community Health Care and served 12 years on its Board of Directors.
He was also one of the 18 people who started the Angel Hill Golf Course in Rossville.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Lee V. Brown (wife: Jill) of Rossville; five grandchildren, Bradley Brown (wife: Kristen) of Rossville, Jarrin Rabe of Mexico, Michael and Alexa Montenaro of Lafayette and Case Payne of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Services were held Saturday at Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville. The Rev. Rick Jones officiated. Entombment followed at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette.
