Community Club is seeking new board members. Anyone interested should call Steve Michael at 566-3803 or attend a special meeting set for 7 p.m. Nov. 5 upstairs in the Community Building.
Kiwanis Club will meet Saturday morning at 7:30 at the fire station.
CWF at the Church of Christ is planning a shopping trip on Nov. 7.
The Masonic Lodge will hold its annual community Veterans Day dinner and program on Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. A free light meal will be served followed by a short program. Pastor Steve Cole will give the tribute. The community is invited to attend and honor the veterans of the Burlington community. Also assisting with the event are Burlington American Legion Post 414 and the Community Club.
The Church of Christ’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner will be Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.
Crossroads Community Christian Church is collecting gifts through Thanksgiving for Shiloh Children’s Ranch.
First Brethren WMS will meet Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
Oakland Christian Church will have a special service Sunday evening at 7.
Halloween activities
The Town Council set Trick-or-Treat Night for Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Trick-or-Treaters are invited to stop by the library for some spooktacular treats.
Kiwanis Club’s annual community Harvest Party will be Saturday evening. A free chili supper will be served. Costume judging for children ages 0 to sixth grade will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a cakewalk and pumpkin decorating. There will also be hayrides for the kids. Canned items for the Food Pantry will be collected.
A Haunted Woods at the park will be open from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be an admission fee of $5 for ages 12 and over and $3 for under age 12. The Junior League is sponsoring the event and warns the Haunted Woods may not be appropriate for young children.
Children are invited to stop by the Trunk of Treats at Faith Church of Christ from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
