William Edward “Bill” Bowman, 93, of Carefree, Ariz., died Oct. 4, 2009, at his home.

Born Aug.

1, 1916, on the family farm outside of Burlington, he was the son of William and Sadie Bowman. He was married in Chicago to Carol Doane, his wife of 59 years.

Mr. Bowman and his wife worked in the family business, Cheshire, Inc., an international labeling company, until it was sold to Xerox in 1968.

During World War II, he was an Air Force pilot.

Also surviving are three daughters, Megan Brown, Cornelia Sawle and Nori Kennedy, and nine grandchildren.

A Wake will be held Nov. 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Wenban Funeral Home in Carefree. A memorial service will be held the following day, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Spirit. Interment will follow at Lake Forest Cemetery.
