Dale E. Fossnock
Dale E. Fossnock, 87, Delphi, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct.14, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi.
Born Dec. 1, 1921, in Carroll County, he was the son of Edward James and Dora Mabel Stong Swartz Fossnock. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1939. On Sept. 29, 1946, in Mulberry, he married Maynelle Mills, who survives.
A lifelong farmer, Mr. Fossnock served eight years on the Board of Trustees of the Delphi Community School Corporation. He was board president during the building of the current high school.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Fossnock was a former member of the Pyrmont United Methodist Church, where he was a song leader and Sunday School teacher.
He also served as a 4-H leader.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Kevin Dale Fossnock of Delphi; a daughter, Pamela Sue Smith (husband Ronald) of Westerville, Ohio; a sister, Marian Smith of Rossville; three grandchildren, Melinda Ridley (husband David), Major Michael Smith (wife Kelly), and Suzanne Thompson (husband Jeff); and ten great-grandchildren, Ryan, Meagan, Melanie and Reid Ridley, Faith, Elijiah, Isaiah, Sarah, and Micah Smith, and Logan Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Evelyn Hufford Glenn.
Services were held Saturday at Bodine Funeral Home, Rossville. Pastor Ed Selvidge officiated. Burial followed with military rites at Pyrmont Cemetery.
