Gathering time

James Whitcomb Riley wrote a poem that praises this time of year, “when the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock.” Quiet scenes like this (on State Road 218) inspired Riley’s writing. In the midst of autumn, this week’s weather is mild, with no “frost on the punkin” expected. Comet photo
