Lessons from the Heart

Who is Jesus?

However, in our culture today and around the world some would discount Him. Many would say that he was just a good man, and that the New Testament is a fabrication of made up stories to keep the allusion going after his death. So the question I ask of you is this. Was he just a good man or is He truly the Son of God, and if He is the Son of God then have you made him the savior of your life?

One of the chapters I love most in the Bible is Philippians 2. This contains a wonderful commentary on how Jesus lived this life and was fully God and fully Man “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore also God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the nave of Jesus every knee would bow of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:5-11 (NASB)

In this passage we see that although Jesus was fully God He emptied himself so that He could be obedient to his mission. Then as a servant He endured the cross for us in suffering, pain and death. In His resurrection where He defeated sin and death he made a way for all of humanity to come to a new relationship with God the Father. It was upon his resurrection that he was highly exalted by God so that the world may know and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

The answer to your question makes all the difference for eternity. If Jesus truly is divine and truly raised from the dead then every person is confronted with making Him the Lord and Savior of their life. Have you done that? Have you trusted him and listened to His life giving words of hope. They are available to all who would hear them. Please do so today. I did this 30 years ago and have not regretted it since. In fact, I am still amazed at His grace that is given to me and daily I marvel in that grace and need it in my life.
