Carroll County and area community members now have an opportunity to receive local updates and alerts via the Internet in E-mail and text messages from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Flora Police Department, Emergency Management Agency as well as the Delphi Police Department, which was the first law enforcement agency to utilize the more advanced technical service.

According to the Nixle Web site, the community information service is dedicated to helping residents stay connected with information which is most important to residents and family members.

To receive notifications from the local police department through the Nixle service, the user is required to go to www.nixle.com and follow instructions to register as a private individual.

“This is a great service for people to be able to receive almost immediate notification of community safety issues,” Carroll County Sheriff Tony Burns said. “There is no risk to this service and many benefits.”
