Bulldogs run by Cougars

By Mike Hoffman Contributing sportswriter

The Clinton Central Bulldogs scored early and often against the Carroll Cougars Friday night.

In this Hoosier Heartland Conference game the Cougars had no answer for stopping the Bulldogs. Final score was 68-0, Central.

The host Bulldogs simply over powered the Cougars. The game started with the Bulldogs receiving the kickoff and Jordan Woodward returning it 93 yards for the first score of the game. The Cougars then went three and out after not being able to move the ball. The Bulldogs wasted no time as Cody Cannaday went in from 10 yards out and the hosts were up 14- 0 at the end of the first quarter.

Clinton Central put 34 points on the scoreboard in the second quarter. The Cougar defenders did stop the Bulldogs, forcing a punt however, the offense was forced to 3 and out.

Clinton Central put the game out of reach in the second quarter when David Griffy scored on 42-yard and 24-yard runs, and Woodard on a 39-yard run to put the score at 34-0.

The Bulldogs scored again when Woodard returned the punt 62 yards. Capping scoring for the Bulldogs in the first half was Todd Dunn, who recovered a punt in the end zone for a 48-0 half time score.

The Cougars had a couple of players shaken up in the first half - Brady Noonkester and Chad Griffin. Neither player returned in the second half.

The lone score in the third quarter came when Cody Cannaday ran it in from 22 yards for the Bulldogs. Central added 13 points in the fourth quarter on runs by Evans (10 yards) and Blevens (5 yards).

The Bulldogs are now 4-3 for the season, while the Cougars fall to 2-5.

One young man on the Cougar defense who is playing hard is Jon Bush. He is ranked 6th in the state on defense, as the middle linebacker has 76 total tackles. Congratulations to him on his success.
