Lockport Church celebrates Homecoming

Comet staff report

The Lockport Church will celebrate Homecoming Oct. 18 with guest speaker Robynne Bruckenstein, a representative of the Chosen People Ministries.

Bruckenstein will present the program, “Feast of the Trumpets,” at 10:30 a.m. Homecoming will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at noon with a carry-in meal.

Chosen People Ministries is a 100-year-old mission that was founded in 1894 by Leopold Cohn, a Hungarian rabbi who came to believe that Jesus was the Messiah of Israel.

From humble beginnings in Brooklyn, N.Y., the ministry has grown worldwide with outreach centers in Argentina, Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Israel, Mexico, Ukraine and the United States.

In stressing the Jewish roots of Christian faith, the ministry hopes to make the message of the Messiah more accessible to Jewish people and give Christian believers a greater sense of the Jewish basis of their own traditions.
