One of the popular features of the annual Burlington Fall Festival is the parade on Saturday afternoon. Parade marshal was Mike Duffy, a bronze medalist in bocce at the Special Olympics World Games held during the summer in North Carolina.

Carroll senior Cassie Dowden was crowned Homecoming Queen during half-time of the Carroll-Central Catholic football game last Friday night. Students chose John Wayne Rieken as Homecoming King. Rieken remains a patient in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. His step-brother, Jason Collins accepted the honor on his behalf.

Brandon Anthony Morris, 21 month old son of Kim Clingenpeel and Mike Morris of Burlington was the winner of the Cutie Baby Contest at the Burlington Fall Festival.

25 YEARS AGO

A special dining guest at JoAnn's restaurant in Flora Thursday evening was Reid Duffy of Channel 6-TV, Indianapolis. He dines at restaurants over the state and then gives his assessment of the food and service on his "Duffy's World" TV segment.

Delphi Community School Board met Monday night. The bid of $4,885,800 submitted by Kettlehut Construction of Lafayette was accepted for construction of the new middle school on the site of the present high school. The building is scheduled for completion in July 1986.

50 YEARS AGO

The construction of a new parsonage for the Oak Grove Christian Church in Jefferson township has been started on land near the church donated by Freeman Redding.

New pedestal-type "stopand go" lights will be installed soon at the Main and Washington street intersection in Delphi, according to an announcement received by Chief of Police Gilbert Underhill. A modernized intersection at the junction of state roads 39, 18, 25 and U.S. Road 421 at the west edge of Delphi will be constructed at a later time. The Delphi wrestling fans were treated to three crowd pleasing matches Tuesday night at the High School gym, as Dick the Bruiser (Afflis) made his first appearance before his home town fans, and hecklers.

Mayor Roy Clauser announces that Delphi will return to Central Standard Time, according to Indiana law beginning shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

75 YEARS AGO

New license plates were received by Paul Ashba for 1935 last week. They will go on sale on December 1. They have a background of robin egg blue and black figures. 3,000 passenger plates arrived and 600 truck plates.

Dr. J. S. Rinehart of Plainview, Texas, son of Henry Rinehart of Flora will open an office in Flora next November for the practice of medicine and surgery, it was learned this week. Dr. Rinehart who has been located in the southwest for a number of years, is a former Carroll county resident.

Delphi Markets - Prices paid Wednesday-subject to change: Wheat, No. 2, 94 cents; Corn, 70 pounds, 73 cents; New Oats, 50 cents and Rye, 77 cents.

100 YEARS AGO

John Rodgers, of Blue Mound, Kan., is spending a short visit with his brother, James Rodgers, of Western Howard county. He was in the same company with our fellow townsmen, R.R. Bright and G. W. Cline during the Civil war and recognized Mr. Bright by a scar upon his face received in the service, although he had not seen him since the company was mustered out of the service. It is Mr. Rodger's first trip to our city, which was unthought of when he left his locality in 1860.

Roy W. Akers of Clymers, who is in the navy, and who recently saved a shipmate from drowning in the Pacific ocean, has been rewarded with a medal for his heroism.
