Carroll harriers win Cougar Invite
Carroll hosted five other area cross country teams at the Cougar Invitational on Sept. 10. The host boys' team took top honors with 31 points with Delphi placing second. Carroll girls placed third with 66 points, and Delphi girls placed fourth with 91 points.
Other teams competing were Frontier, Lafayette Central Catholic, Lewis Cass and Tri County.
Top finishers for Carroll were Blake Mills, first, with a time of 17:38; Jordan Tooley, 4th, 18:16; Tallis Bowers, 6th, 19:10; Brian Bordner, 9th, 19:16; and Weston Rinehart, 11th, 19:34. Other finishers for Carroll were Andrew Miller 13th, Cory Ritter 23rd, Mitch Whitham, 28th, and Jared Collins 36th.
Delphi's Kris Bender finished second with a time of 17:53, while Ryan Leahy was 6th, Kevin Kauffman 9th, Alex Price 18th, Bradon Kemp 19th, JD Huffer 20th, and Erik Carpenter 25th.
For Carroll girls, Abby Reinke placed fifth with a time of 23:03. Other top finishers for Carroll were Bridget Peden, 12th, 24:03; Kaira Ragan, 13th, 24:13; Jillian Kennedy, 17th, 25:05; Stephanie Strawcutter, 19th, 25:27; and Sydney Pencek, 24th.
Emily Layman was Delphi's top finisher with a time of 23:56. Other top finishers for Delphi were Ariel Isley 16th, Taylor Hudelson 25th, Grace Currie 26th, Annie Mose 27th, Ellen Sjolvaner 34th.
Tri County won the meet in the girls' division with 23 points.
Both Carroll and Delphi competed in the Rensselaer Invitational on Saturday. Carroll hosted eight other teams in the Carroll Invitational Monday night. They travel to New Prairie on Saturday.
