Public hearings at Camden town council meeting
Public hearings concerning the 2010 budget and the downtown revitalization application preceded Thursday's Camden Town Council meeting.
Clerk-Treasurer Pat Casserly stated the 2010 budget was kept at the same amount as 2009 although some money was reallocated. When Form 1782 (property taxes) is received some time the beginning of next year, the budget will be reviewed.
The Community Focus Fund (CFF) application for $500,000 for downtown revitalization is due Oct. 2. If approved, Camden will need $60,000 in matching local funds.
Camden health center
Council president Pete Wagoner introduced Linda Stapleton, the primary nurse practitioner at the new Camden Health Center. Stapleton explained what the Center can provide and as a nurse practitioner that she can write full prescriptions and orders and do admitting like physicians. She will collaborate with Dr Mark Meyer as needed.
Stapleton said she "hopes everyone stops in and says hello." An open house is being planned for Oct. 14.
Other business
Pictures were taken and more letters sent out to property owners who are violating local ordinances. Owners must also keep their dogs at home to avoid citations.
Wagoner said he is pleased with progress made on the wastewater upgrade project. The cover for the small lagoon has been delivered and when installed, will allow proper temperatures for year round reaction.
It was reported that the Camden Pageant on Aug. 22 had the largest crowd ever, estimated at 200 in attendance.
The next meeting will be Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the library.
