Kindergarten tool time

Carroll Elementary kindergarten students recently had a hands-on tool lesson. Coomler Contracting not only brought an assortment of hand tools, but also some big equipment. Four stations were set up - hammers and nailing, barn building, sawing, and drilling. Students got to try using a palm nailer, a small hand saw, and an old-time hand drill, all with assistance. They also saw demonstrations of power tools. Garrett Miller is pictured using the palm nailer, assisted by Brad Evans. Tim Coomler is shown in the background with the model barn he built to show students beams, rafters, etc. His wife, Megan Coomler, is a kindergarten teacher at Carroll, and the sided barn will become a toy box in her classroom. The children had the tool lesson after reading the book "Fix- It Duck" by Jez Alborough. Photo provided
