Wilmer L. Hodges
Wilmer Leo "Slub" Hodges, 93, of Camden, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at his residence.
Born Nov. 4, 1915, in Washington Township, Carroll County, he was the son of James Robert Hodges and Lora B. Eller Hodges Richardson. He was married on Feb. 24, 1940, in Argos, to Pauline Purviance Frye, who preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 2001.
A life resident of the Camden area, Mr. Hodges worked as a farmer and drove a bulk fuel truck for Carroll County Co-op for 13 years.
He was a member of the Camden First Baptist Church and Camden Masonic Lodge No. 211, F & AM.
Surviving are a son, James R. Hodges (wife: Melody) of Camden; a daughter, Judy Goodwin (husband: Gerald) of Kokomo; three granddaughters, Marla Vechey, Molly Isom and Lisa Goodwin Cummins; a grandson, Marty Wayne Hodges; and eight great-grandchildren, Ian and Josey Vechey, Wren Isom, Lucas Justy, Isaac DeKalb, Alexander Hodges, and Sarah and Brett Cummins.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters.
Service will be at 12 noon Thursday at the Camden First Baptist Church. Pastor Paul Marcellino will officiate. Burial will follow at Musselman Cemetery near Camden. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Cree Funeral Home, Camden, is handling arrangements.
