The right thing to do for all the right reasons

Delphi Superintendent Ralph Walker extended an offer for the community to become invested in the schools and their needs at Monday night's meeting. Anyone and everyone who cares about this community should not hesitate to take him up on that offer. It was genuine and heartfelt.

Walker encourages civic, church and community groups to provide volunteer labor for building repair projects in order for the school corporation to save money in making necessary repairs.

It matters no longer how the buildings came to need such extensive work - the fact is - and no one disputes it - they do need a lot of work. Walker and the school board developed a plan to get the work done and learned in the June referendum that the community did not support that plan.

They heard that message loud and clear. Now they are getting down to the business of doing what needs to get done with what they can gather together to do it.

Community members ….you are part of that which can get this done. This is your opportunity to become invested in the future of your community's children and grandchildren.

This community is rich with people resources. Get with your groups, decide what you can do and give Walker a call with an offer to help. Do not miss the opportunity to show that you are willing to heal the wounds of the past and repair relationships with those entrusted to educate your children.
