Born Jan. 8, 1955, in Mexico, he was the son of Pedro and Guadalupe Hernandez. His marriage was to Rosa Gutierrez on May 18, 1976, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. She survives.
Mr. Hernandez worked in operations with The Andersons at Clymers and drove a truck.
He attended Valley View Baptist Church in Flora.
On March 5, 2004, he took the Oath of Allegiance and became an American citizen.
Surviving with his wife are his father of Mexico; three sons, Rick Hernandez of Flora, Jaime Hernandez (wife: Sally) of Burlington, and Sergio Hernandez (wife: Jenna) of Russiaville; two daughters, Melissa Hernandez of Flora and Lupita Hernandez (husband: Jose) of Indianapolis; two brothers, Pedro Hernandez and Mundo Marquez, both of Mexico; and four sisters, Yolanda Arbico Hernandez of Denver, Colo., and Bertha Hernandez, Maria Elena de la Cruz and Maria Lueis, all of Mexico; and nine grandchildren, Jesse Hernandez, Alejandro Hernandez, Alexa Hernandez, Alina Hernandez, Andre Hernandez, Kaihl Hernandez, Carlos Ramos, Adriana Hernandez, and Grace Filbrun.
Services were held Saturday evening at Reinke Funeral Home in Flora. Father Peter Vanderkolk officiated.
